I am a self confessed golden milk addict, and ill admit it took me a while to create a recipe that tasted appeasing. I am really excited to share it with you all!
Turmeric is ayurvedic spice from southeast Asia. Known also as curcuma, turmeric has many benefits for your body. The spice is very anti-inflammatory, clearing up joint pain & puffiness over night! You can also turmeric in replacement with Advil or painkillers; especially for pms. Curcuma also calming the stomach and digestion, by aiding in alkalizing the system.
Turmeric is best consumed along with black pepper to increase the bioavalibilty of the spice. I love to use turmeric with ginger as well for even more anti-inflammatory benefits. I find that turmeric's flavor really lends its self to chai & cinnamon like flavors; so pairing it with cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamon & anise is a good idea! Another ingredient from ayurvedic medicine is ghee, which I also like to used in this recipe. Ghee is also anti-inflammatory & is packed with ALA fatty acids to boost metabolism and also contain vitamins a,e & k. When it comes to adaptogens, i like to use ashwaganda when I make golden milk. For me, they work very well together with my body.
